SPACE ONE announces naming of small rocket

TOKYO, June 18, 2021—SPACE ONE Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “SPACE ONE”) today announced that the company has selected KAIROS (Kii-based Advanced & Instant ROcket System)as the name of the small rocket to be used in the company’s space transportation business.
Reason for selecting KAIROS as the name of the rocket
SPACE ONE aims to realize a small rocket launch service with the world’s fastest path from contract to launch at the world’s most frequent launch schedule. Under our mission, “leading the market with time on our side”, we have chosen to borrow the name Kairos from an Ancient Greek mythological concept of time. In ancient Greek, Kairos also means “chance”, or “opportune time”, which SPACE ONE incorporates into the company’s goal of grasping opportunities as it responds to rapidly changing market conditions.
Furthermore, through the inclusion of the Kii region in the name of the rocket, SPACE ONE hopes that it will come to be appreciated by those living in and around the area.
SPACE ONE is currently working towards realizing its aims for a launch frequency of 20 launches per year by the mid-2020’s.
